8.1 Overview PinPads and Locks¶
Different CargoGuard products have a PinPad system to secure the transported goods. The configuration offers many different settings in order to cover many different use-cases.
If a PinPad configuration is created on any level it will automatically be inherited by any lower levels. On lower levels, a configuration from a higher level may be overwritten with a different one, which in turn will be inherited by lower levels to the overwriting one.
8.2 Necassary Permissions for PinPad-Usage¶
In order for a user to be set up as a user for a PinPad, he first needs to meet the following three criteria:The user has to:
- 1. have an Account in the CargoLive Portal
- 2. have the necessary permissions to view and open the transport in question
- 3. have logged into his account at least once and generated his personal PIN
Only if these criteria are met, the user can be selected in the configuration of a PinPad.
8.3 Opening the Configuration Page¶
Select the level on which you want to configure the PinPad (company, project, supply chain or an individual transport).
Select the menu item "Settings" from the menu bar in the top left corner of the workspace. Next, select the tab "Lock" from the tab bar on the bottom of the workspace. You can now see the configuration page of the PinPad (Lock).
Should all fields be grayed out, please continue here first.
8.4 Configuration of a PinPad¶
The configuration takes place during 4 steps. These will be explained below in a summary form. For a more detailed step by step guide, please refer to the chapters 8.4.1 to 8.4.4
- 1. First the operation mode is selected. This dictates, whether the selected Users use their fixed personal PINs or One-Time-PINs generated and distributed by the system.
- 2. Depending on the selected operation mode, the next selction is the:
- a) (One-Time-PINs) method of distribution.
- b) (Fixed PINs) user selection and setting up permissions on an individual basis.
- 3. Within the Lock-Configuration the exact parameters are set, within which the lock operates. Special PINs (Panic-PIN and Air Cargo Mode PIN) are set up during this step as well.
- 4. With the optional opening conditions you can restrict the circumstances, during which a PinPad lock can be opened, using the the method selected in step 1.
8.4.1 Operation Mode¶
Options for the operation mode are "Fixed PIN's" or "One Time PIN".
If the use of fixed PIN's is selected, Users selected later during step 8.4.2.1 may use their fixed personal PINs to perform the actions that they have the permissions for.
If however the One-Time-PIN is selected, a PIN will be created and sent to a set E-Mail address or phone number via SMS by the system.
8.4.2 Configuring the Operation Mode¶
Depending on the selected operation mode, the according configuration has to be made.
8.4.2.1 Configuring Fixed PIN's¶
Select all actions that you want to use during the configuration (they can be made available to individual users later by using the drop down menu next to their name). Next select the users from the white drop down menus that you want to be able to interact with the PinPad.
Next to the users you can select the actions from a drop down menu that the user can use (e.g. opening with two-man-rule for two users who cannot open the lock alone).
8.4.2.2 Configuring One-Time-PIN's¶
Decide, if the recipient should receive the PIN via E-Mail or SMS and enter either the E-Mail address or phone number accordingly (phone number in the format of "+CountrycodeNumber" - e.g. +49123456789) and select, when you want the PIN to be sent.
- Instant
- 1 Day before time window
- 1 hour before time window
- 15 minutes before time window
- On waypoint reached
The sent PIN can only be used to unlock the lock through the KeyPad once. After that it will not work anymore!
8.4.3 Lock Configuration¶
Open the lock configuration by clicking on the "Configuration" button.
- "Secure by" - defines the action necessary to secure the lock
- Pin - to secure the lock, a valid PIN needs to be entered
- Key Button - to secure the lock, simply press the "Key" button on the PinPad
- Auto Lock Time - defines how many seconds after turning the knob on the lock pass, before the motor locks the knob (not secured! Only locked.)
- Stay Unlock Time - defines how many seconds the lock stays unlocked after entering the PIN, before the motor locks the nob again (not secured! Only locked.)
- Define PIN for panic alarm - allows for PanicPIN to be set (when entered lock is unsecured, unlocked and a silent alarm is sent out)
- Define PIN for Air Cargo Mode - allows for Air Cargo PIN to be set (when entered, stops the module from transmitting data to allow for air transport)
To change the PanicPIN or Air Cargo PIN, please enable the feature first by checking the corresponding box. Next, click on the newly appeared text field "Edit (Air Cargo-/Panic-)PIN" and confirm by entering your password. You can now generate the relevant PIN.
8.4.4 Opening Conditions¶
The opening conditions are optional. They allow for local or temporal restrictions for opening the lock regularly.
- To set a temporal condition, tick the box in front of "Time window for opening". You may now set a time frame (relative to the start of the transport) in which the lock may be opened (using the regular rules for opening the lock).
- To set a local condition, tick the box in front of "Waypoint for opening". You may now select either a specific waypoint or a waypoint type in which the lock may be opened (using the regular rules for opening the lock).
Both opening conditions can be used simultaneously.
8.5 Overwriting an existing Configuration¶
If all options are grayed out, a lock configuration already exists on a superior level. A new configuration can be created that will replace the existing one on the creation level and all levels below.
To overwrite the existing configuration, click on the button "New" in the lower right corner of the workspace and confirm by clicking "Ok".
